An industrial barbell is used for industrial ear piercings. 14 guage is the normal size but these are a little thinner being a 16 guage for a lighter, smaller piece of jewelry. 1.5" is the most common length for industrial piercings, although all ears are not the same, so it depends on how large the ear is. The gauge is up to the customer and their personal preference.
